Ricardo Jesus Gallén Garcia was born in Linares, Spain in 1972.
He had his first guitar lesson at the age of four, and only one year later he gave his first public concerts in his hometown of Linares. Gallén studied music at the conservatoires in Cordoba, Granada and Madrid.
In addition to performing a number of solo recitals, he has appeared as a soloist with many of the leading orchestras of Europe, Russia, Argentina, Chile and the USA. He has been both a teacher and soloist at many renowned international guitar festivals, and has presented master classes on the guitar throughout Europe.
Ricardo Gallén has produced five CD recordings for the NAXOS label.
He has won a number of prizes in more than 20 international competitions, which include five 1st prizes, and an array of special awards at the most renowned international guitar competitions.
Gallén was professor for guitar at the University Mozarteum in Salzburg, as well as at the University of Extremadura in Cáceres, Spain.
Since 2009 he is the new Professor for Guitar at the LISZT SCHOOL of Music Weimar succeeding Prof. Monika Rost.
