Piraeus Sinfonia Festival presents the French Sax Quartet Inédits in collaboration with  Austrian singer Ute Gfrerer and French accordionist Anthony Millet, in a programme with works by Fauré, Lekeu, Poulenc, Tati, Kassap, Piazzolla, Brel, Weill, and songs made popular by Edif Piaf.

In the past few years Ute Gfrerer established herself as one of the leading interpreters of the music of Kurt Weill. Under the musical direction of conductors like Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Franz Welser-Moest, HK Gruber and Ingo Metzmacher she sang as a guest in Zurich, Hamburg, Munich, London, Salzburg, Bregenz and Vienna. Besides singing the German Weill repertoire (like Polly in the Threepenny opera at the Megaron in Athens), she also emerged in his French compositions collaborating with the French “Trio Futurum” on a very ambitious CD project with French Weill songs or the Orchestre de Bretagne for performances of the rarely played “Marie Galante Suite” in 2009.

The repertory of this multifaceted singer also includes roles in Mozart operas such as Susanna in “Le nozze di Figaro”, Donna Elvira in “Don Giovanni”, or Despina in “Cosi fan tutte”, as well as the role of Jenny in “The Rise and Fall of The City of Mahagonny” (Weill), Adele in “Die Fledermaus” by Johann Strauss and Eliza Doolittle in “My Fair Lady” by Federick Loewe. Ute also sings new music, e.g. the role of Kathi in Gottfried von Einem’s opera “Der Zerissene”, Abigail Williams in Robert Ward’s “The Crucible” or the main lead in “Tania”, an opera about the abduction of Patty Hearst , written by American composer Anthony Davies, as well as Musicals and Chansons and performs her own Cabaret Programs. She has toured as a soloist through the USA, Japan, Russia, the Ukraine, Mexico and Guatemala.

Anthony Millet is undoubtedly one of the most established French accordionists, assistant Professor at the Conservatoire de Paris. He has performed as soloist and chamber musician with Orchestras and ensembles, such as l’ Orchestre de Paris, la Comédie Française, l’Opéra de Paris, l’ Ensemble intercontemporain, l’ IRCAM,  Accroche note and Ars Nova ensembles. Very fond of tango, he has founded the Esteban Trio with singer Johnny Esteban and cellist Lionel Allemand, as well as the tango ensemble Quinto Centos.

Quatuor “INÉDITS”, founded in 2005, by Jean-Pierre Baraglioli (saxophone soprano), Philippe Portejoie (saxophone alto), Clément Himbert (saxophone ténor) and Michel Supéra (saxophone baryton) has  performed extensively through Europe and the Americas, collaborating with artists such as Marcel Azzola, Sylvain Kassap, Hélène Labarrière, Ute Gfrerer, Gustavo Beytelmann, Xavier Phillips, among others.

Their repertory includes works by Sylvain Kassap and Gustavo Beytelmann, “valses musettes”, popular music from Latin America, Erik Satie, Jacques Tati, Michel Legrand, Kurt Weill, French Chansons etc.
