Ensemble Calliopée is a multi-faceted chamber music ensemble under artistic direction of Karine Lethiec, with string and woodwind quintets, harpists, pianists, cimbalomists, accordionists, harpsichordists, singers and percussionists; each combining their skills as soloist and chamber musician to produce original shows. It gives concerts at the largest festivals and on the biggest stages in France (Festival Pablo Casals, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Opéra Bastille) and abroad (Festival Amadeus, The Czech Philharmonic in Prague). Merging artistic quality with an openness to all repertoires, the ensemble collaborates with composers (K. Maratka, P. Hersant), scientists (Hubert Reeves), film-makers and musicologists. In residence at the Museum of the Great War in Meaux (close to Paris) since 2011, the ensemble offers programs combining music and history, besides pedagogic initiatives. It has recorded : Bohuslav Martinu – H136 (Alpha, 2009); Lucien Durosoir – Jouvence (Alpha, 2010) and Krystof Maratka – Chamber Music (Dux, 2012). The Ensemble Calliopée is supported by the Ile-de-France Regional Department of Cultural Affairs – Ministry of Culture and Communication, SACEM, ADAMI, SPEDIDAM and Musique nouvelle en liberté.
